Family one: supply metrics — do you have the people?

KPI 3 — Pipeline depth by rank. For each critical rank, how many vetted, available or soon-available candidates (including your own returning crew and internal promotions) could you call this week? Building the dashboard without building a bureaucracy

Resist the urge to launch all twelve at once. Start with the four that expose the most and cost the least: re-engagement rate (two years of crew lists and a spreadsheet), time-to-crew and first-response time (timestamps in whatever tracking you use), and certificate expiry exposure (a document register with dates). These four alone convert the department's monthly meeting from anecdotes into decisions, and most operators can compute them within a week from records already on file.
